About us
Our family business was founded in 1959 by Bôte van der Wal. At that time, the company was engaged in advertising activities and supplying by-products from soups to meat products to affiliated members. This happened from the then butcher shop which was located on the Olde Galileën in Leeuwarden.
Due to the growth of the company, it was decided to terminate the activities in its own butcher shop and to look for a new building. That was found on the Nieuwe Buren nr. 95 formerly by Simon de Wit. This was in the year 1962. Due to the rapid growth and lack of space, the Sperwer business premises in Gysbert Japicxstraat were purchased on 18-12-1967. Son Piet van der Wal joined the company in 1975 after first attending the vocational school in Utrecht. Due to the emergence of the chain stores, it was decided to partially switch to the sale of fresh meat.
In 1984, a definitive switch was made to the sale of fresh meat, under the new name MEAT WHOLESALER “DE KLASSE”.
